Directors Synopsis –
This documentary has an underlying purpose, that is:
Bring the magic of astronomy to the average person, entertain the masses and ultimately educate and inform people.
With a modern and tangible format, this documentary will appeal to both young and old. Those interested in astronomy will no doubt enjoy this unconventional look at their world, but those yet to learn about astronomy will be spellbound as our documentary covers many facets of this amazing craft.
Space Cowboy will cover –
• A modern look at amateur astrophotography and the challenges it presents.
• Current research programs by Government funded institutions.
• The Hubble Ultra Deep Field photograph and the implications.
• The Square Kilometre Array Project (SKA).
Scientific concepts – Time Dilation, Doppler Shifting, Red Shift, Light Speed
Our skeletal format will wind in-between amateur astrophotography (non instructional) and professional astronomy. We will follow well known deep space photographer Ray Palmer through his unique world of space photography whilst diverting into other scientific realms.
Ray will demonstrate and easily entertain us with his colourful characteristics; characteristics rarely seen in fraternities such as astronomy. He is the Space Cowboy.
The goal of Space Cowboy is to bring astronomy out of the scientific world and into the world of mainstream entertainment. Travelling to locations such as Perth Observatory, New Norscia, Wave Rock, The Pinnacles and the Gin Gin Gravity Wave Observatory, we'll look at some of the latest research and see some great parts of Australia.
